Worked closely with team to develop EMC Symmetrix configuration including BCVs for online backup and volume group configuration. AMP 1993 · Working with a Fortune 200 electronic component manufacturer, assisted in the planning and implementation of an enterprise wide Microsoft NT environment. The infrastructure required the integration of UNIX (Sun OS, HP-UX), MVS, VM, and Novel. Provided recommendations and evaluated third party connectivity products. Implemented initial standard naming conventions, operating policies, and controls. Reviewed configurations for the implementation of Oracle 7.0, SQL*Plus, SQL*Net, and SNA connectivity. MBNA America 1989 - 1993 · Systems Architect for the design and implementation of Sybase Replication and Omni Servers for a major financial institution. Developed a distributed database and reporting environment that encompasses 35 hosts and 1,500+ concurrent online users in 6 remote sites. This effort involved multi-gigabyte databases and was implemented in C using Sybase DB-Library and RPC calls under HP-UX. · Responsible for database design, installation, space allocation, and administration of seven Sybase SQL Servers. Instrumental in the design, programming, and implementation of the distributed Open Server model. Tuned performance and reviewed all SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers. Engineered and produced Sybase Open Server to allow access to multi-vendor/protocol data, specifically Sybase, Informix, and LU 6.2 access to mainframe. · As Lead Programmer for a bank assignment, designed and initially coded a front end data entry system to support a growing number of applications, including telemarketing and 1-800 access credit card application acquisition efforts. This system includes tape and vendor dial-up access as well as internally and externally driven credit application processing. The system established true peer-to-peer interaction with CICS transactions on a mainframe. · Developed a UNIX transaction-processing monitor for a national bank to allow management of single resources, such as LU connections and different databases and systems. Provided a comprehensive and robust set of inter-process communication management tools and libraries. Assisted in the development and coding of a curses/C-based data entry and menu system. Also assisted in the development of a UNIX database user access control system to ease the burden of managing system and database permissions, logins, and password management; further adapted software to encompass multiple distributed sites.
